MUBS Research

The MUBS Story is partly told through Research and discovery. With our visualization of becoming the benchmark of research and training in the region, Makerere University Business School promotes vibrant interaction between the professors, researchers and the Undergraduate students. This has played a vital role in enabling a vast number of students excel in their academics.

At Makerere University Business School, research is a key component in achieving our strategic goals. The aim is to produce work that is most immediately applicable to the practice of business with new knowledge and ideas and prepare students to be thoughtful and leaders of value.

The Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research is the home to the postgraduate academics of the School. It carries out research related studies relevant in developing one’s thinking in the different areas of interest.

The postgraduate research done at the faculty is categorized as;

Exploratory research – which structures and identifies new problems
Constructive research – which develops solutions to problems

SPORTS AT MUBS

The sports section is headed by the Sports Tutor who is assisted by one Asst Sports Tutor and one Athletics Trainer who oversee the sports activities of the school, most especially for students. The staffs in the section work closely with the Students Sports Union and the Guild Ministry of sports to ensure that students actively participate in MUBS tournaments, inter-university tournaments and national tournament. The section identifies outstanding sports personalities who are given certain privileges to motivate them. The section initiates sports policy issues through its Sports Committee of Management.

We offer a range of fun sports activities throughout the academic year for students to engage in.

The activities are geared to promoting health, confidence building and team work for the

students while at university.

Scholarship Scheme

The MUBS Sports Scholarship Scheme promotes learning for individuals that are actively involved and have excelled in sports by providing a partial amount /contribution to the best male or female Sports personalities in the different competitive Sports. The Sports Committee reviews the applications made and makes the selection of the eligible candidates.

Conferences at MUBS

MUBS organized conferences and Events;

  • Africa Business and Entrepreneurship Conference

The conference serves as a forum to discuss and present current work on business and entrepreneurship in Africa by scholars, practitioners and policy makers from around the world.

  • Annual Alumni Events

Every year, MUBS organizes Alumni Events through the Alumni Association. The Association sets forth activities that promote networking, knowledge building and updates on latest developments. Find out more about our Alumni milestone anniversaries. There is always something for everyone.

  • Annual International Management Conference

The Conference attracts a number of scholars around the world who discuss topical issues affecting the African continent. Its coverage includes; a doctoral symposium, an academic conference and a business conference where exchange of ideas for effective advancement of knowledge are facilitated.

  • Career and Skills Dev’t Centre : MUBS Annual Job and Career Fair

This annual fair gives our students a chance to interact with employers, with the aim of making the students understand what the employer expects from them and also to inform the employers what the students have got to offer.

  • Economic Forum

The Forum is committed to sharing ideas on key issues affecting Uganda’s economy. It engages business, political, academia and other leaders of society to define challenges, solutions and actions in contribution to Uganda’s economic growth.

  • Entrepreneurship , Innovation and Incubation Centre : Business Plan Competition Awards

This Program seeks to enhance innovative ideas in entrepreneurship with the intention of making a positive impact on society. The Business Plan Competition is an annual challenge that sees students compete and present unique business startup ideas.

  • ORSEA Conference

The Operations Research Society of East Africa with three country chapters, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania aims at promoting development of operational research in the East African region.

  • Graduation Ceremony

The Graduation Ceremony is held to present students who successfully completed their studies during the Academic Years. They are awarded with Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Ordinary Diploma and Certificates in various academic courses.
