Bachelor of Midwifery

The main aim of this program is to provide educational opportunities to acquire knowledge, skills, values and attitude that is essential for the development of safe midwifery practice, professional competence, and confidence.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
This program has been designed to provide an opportunity for midwives who hold diplomas in various areas of midwifery, paediatric and public health nursing among others to upgrade and
complete their nursing education at the baccalaureate level. By the end of this program, learners will be able to;

Demonstrate an extensive and profound understanding of midwifery evidence-based learning modalities and to embrace birth as a normal process.
Display an understanding of the role of midwives in helping to reduce the impact of gender inequalities on women and families and their vital role in reproductive health.
Illustrate use of analytical and inquiry-based learning skills to evaluate the factors affecting the childbearing experience.

Bachelor of Nursing Science

The goal of the Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNS) program is to prepare a multi-skilled nurse who will competently meet the healthcare needs of the community in all settings by providing preventive, promotive, curative, as well as rehabilitative services to members of society. Similarly, the graduate is also prepared to initiate, participate in and support health research.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Provide promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative health services
Manage health services based in health institutions in rural, peri-urban and urban areas
Generate information through basic and applied research approaches

The goal of the Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNS) top up program is to prepare a multi-skilled nurse who will competently meet the healthcare needs of the community in all settings by providing preventive, promotive, curative, as well as rehabilitative services to members of society. Similarly, the graduate is also prepared to initiate, participate in and support health and nursing research and innovations and offer leadership.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
The curriculum has been designed in such as a way that it reduces theoretical burden on students and integrates the basic sciences and biomedical courses with clinical courses based on various disciplines, systems, problems and community needs. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates shall be expected to;

Provide promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative health services
Manage health services based in health institutions in rural, peri-urban and urban areas
Generate information through basic and applied research approaches
Disseminate information through teaching and other health education modalities
Lead communities in issues related to health and community development
