Academic Probation and Dismissal
Students must maintain an acceptable cumulative grade point average, for courses taken at CIU. A student’s academic status will be determined at the end of each Semester by the Registrar’s Office. Any student who scores below 2:00, will be asked to repeat the course.
When a student’s cumulative grade point average falls below the minimal acceptable level for that school / Faculty (probationary GPA as specified by the different Faculties Office at orientation and discussed in Senate), the student shall be placed on academic probation for the next term of enrollment. Students on academic probation should consult with their advisors on how they might improve their academic performance. Academic probation status is recorded in the student’s academic record. When a student is placed on academic probation the Dean shall notify the student in writing of any specific instructions for improving academic performance. A student will be removed from academic probation if the cumulative grade point average is greater than or equal to the minimal acceptable GPA for his / her program at the end of the next semester of enrollment.
