BACKGROUND

St. Lawrence University (in Uganda) opened its doors to new students in August /September 2007. This University is unique because in every degree or diploma programme offered it emphasizes Entrepreneurship, ICT (Information Communication Technology) Research, and Empowerment in order to produce graduates who are self-reliant, versatile and who will answer the usually disturbing question of “after University what’s next”. Our graduates are usually equipped enough to create their own jobs.

Intakes at St. Lawrence University

St. Lawrence University (SLAU) has two intakes ie. August and January intakes to keep abreast with other international examining bodies’ programmes.

What are the minimum Requirement?

a) Master’s Degree:

A bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent from a recognised University or institution of Higher Learning.

b)Postgraduate Diplomas:

A bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent from a recognisedUniversity or institution of Higher Learning.

c)Bachelor’s Degree

Nationals (Ugandans)

i)Direct entry: – UCE with at least 5 passes and UACE with at least

2 principal passes obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent.

ii)Mature Age entry: – Apass in mature age examinations with at least 50%marks. The Mature Age entry examinations must have been accredited by National Council for Higher Education. (NCHE)

iii)A diploma obtained at credit or distinction level from a recognised institution.

International Students.

iv) Bridging course for students who have done their secondary education outside Uganda and these programme must have been accredited by the NCHE.

v)A diploma from any institution outside Uganda and must have been equated by the NCHE.

d)Diploma

UCE with at least 5 passes and UACE with 1 principal pass and 2 subsidiary passes obtained at the same sitting.

A 2year Certificate from a recognised tertiary institution.

e)Certificate –UCE with at least 5 passes obtained at the same sitting.

Application Guidelines

Application is made through filling an application form obtained at a non refundable application fee at our Kabaka Lake Campus. You may also download the application form from here and pay for it on submission.

The application form must be fully filled and the relevant academic documents attached.It must be returned to the Admissions Office of the University according to the set deadline dates obtained from the Admissions office.

Application for Admission

Applications forms are available at a non-refundable fee of Uganda Shs. 50,000/= or $25.

Application Procedure

Check with the Admissions office at the University or visit the website for the programs on offer.
Buy an application form at the fee stated, or you may download the form fill it and return it to the University.
On returning the application form you receive a coupon showing the date when the results of the application will be out.
On the date results of the application are out, kindly check at the office or on the university website; then proceed to pick your admission letter if admitted.

Application forms are processed and shortlists made by the Admissions Office are forwarded to the University Admissions Committee. The board grants or denies the admission and forwards the decision to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor’s (Academic Affairs) office.

The applicant’s file is reviewed for completeness and a letter is given indicating admission, pending fulfillment of the requirements.

All documents received by the University in connection with an application for admission become the property of St. Lawrence University. Admission places of students who are admitted and fail to report are filed. However material will only be held for a period of only one year if the student notifies the Admissions Office in writing of postponement of enrollment.
