POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN MINES MANAGEMENT (PGDMM) (TWO SEMESTERS)

Course Profile

This course is designed for those outside the discipline of mining engineering who wish to become knowledgeable in the specialist skills of the mining industry and in particular become familiar with mining engineering methods. It prepares you for positions in the mining industry, both operational and management

Duration: One Academic Year (two semesters)

Semester I:

PGM511 Environment Impact Assessment

PGM512 Geographical Information Systems

PGM516 Occupational Health & Safety

PGM514 Legal framework of Mining

PGM513 Strategic Mines Management

PGD710 Research Methodology.

Semester II:

PGM521 Financial Information Management

PGM522 Performance Management

PGM523 Team Dynamics

PGM524 Professional Ethics and Community Relations

PGM525 Mining Risk Management

PGM526 Mines Operations.

Please note that any student who fails more than two modules per academic year will have to repeat the class.

Higher Degrees

Entry Requirement: Applicants must have a first degree from a recognized University and at least 3 years’ post degree work experience is compulsory. It is compulsory that all applicants must be computer literate; a certification of proof will be required during the Entrance Examinations and Interviews.
